nose toes fingers

some tattered and worn around the edges. the weight disproportionate causing the soles to slant at great gradient, trek along a constant hillside side-stepping each maneuver. the other protruding into the air, an eruptive interruption. noises too much, not enough, stifled and crumbled cacophony

C is looking for treasures on the sidewalk
a leftover piece of candy wrapper maybe peanut and chocolate to release the endorphins and add some protein. the used butt smeared with everparty pink lipstick (maybeline, on sale, walgreens, $2.97)

flat ballet-like slippers, payless special losing the elastic connect so they gap upon stride. tennis new, a yearn for athleticism. tall pointy stilettos, pierce the heart with each lift/place - the eyes run up and down - just in their periphery, this is a professional environment.

kleenex cover them from time to time and then fall to the wayside - the trash cans filling - one cube to the next back again
a convivial, familial thing.
mine begins to itch, discomfort.

Trying on different forms, C is looking a zippered leather case, oiled well with intentions for each part - this would provide order purpose, a collection of thoughtfully displayed actions. oxygen only gives so much - it needs to be super powered, maybe an injection.

now, it's Friday and she's on to fingers - rings and polish, fake applications changing the length, extension - they march. she wants an orchestra: each section makes sound from the chest
the winds are the pinkies, reeds lifting and rising
the pointer, percussion each key - the word processing department keeps time.
middle and ring make up the strings, delicately filling space

she's holding on to sanity best possible, wood, percussion, violin, cello and the thumb conductor, opposable glory leading the troupe

toes and nose give instruction a melody or opera follow

from The possibilities of distraction

Last Monday it was ears. At the hour when everyone comes to work, it was extraordinary the number of ears whipping down the hall from the entrance. In my office I encountered six ears, in the cafeteria at noon there were over five hundred, symmetrically arranged in double rows. It was amusing from time to time to see a pair of ears rise, leave the assembly line, and move off. They looked like wings.

from marvelous pursuits

What a wonderful pursuit: cut the leg off a spider, put it in an envelope, write on it Minister of Foreign Affairs, add the address, run downstairs, and drop the letter into the mailbox at the corner.

What a wonderful pursuit: walk down the boulevard Arago counting trees, and every five chestnut trees stand for a moment on one leg and wait for someone to look, then give a short, tight yell, spin like a top, arms wide, very like the cakuy bird who laments in the trees of northern Argentina.

opportune

inked to a misfortune the dollar train proved misleading. a lovely size cited on the memory blog. she whispers and dreams in InDesign and Excel spreadsheets. filling out the curved architecture of get ahead. the mometum breaks the drive shaft boot - flower puzzle in the lobby. the starbucks lids wide. C remembers a before that never looked so good. the now always making jelly

a grey hair poked its way inside
looked around to find room
vroom vroom the media express
vroom boom a manequin leaning

jelly makes C now always before look so. the wide fuze lugging unsafe hours raveled. arcing conjecture shivers and reams the Microsoft connection. log for fire doled out to a four tune squeak. C fingers the dial.
